The Lower House of the Dutch Parliament has recognized Russia as a sponsor of terrorism in connection with its military activities in Ukraine.
This is reported by NOS.
An overwhelming majority of parties, including the VVD, D66, ChristenUnie, PvdA, and CDA, supported a corresponding proposal by Tom van der Lee of the Green Left party.
Van der Lee MP proposed to follow the example of the European Parliament. The document states that the Russian army "structurally and deliberately" attacks civilian objects.
According to Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, recognizing Russia as a sponsor of terrorism would not have significant consequences for the Netherlands.
He said he would like to see if there is support in other EU countries or within NATO to jointly give Russia such a qualification.
