The Ukrainian flag raised next to EU flags at the European Commission
On Europe Day, the national flag of Ukraine was raised next to the EU flags at the European Commission building.
This was reported by the European Commission on its official Twitter account.
On its official Twitter account, the European Commission said that "Today we are raising the Ukrainian flag in the heart of Europe".
"As we celebrate Europe Day, we reaffirm our unwavering support and solidarity with Ukraine and its people," the Commission said in a statement.
The EC added that Europe stood by Ukraine when Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022. "We are still there today. And we will be there for as long as it takes," the commission assured, adding a video of the raising of the Ukrainian flag.
Europe Day is a European Union holiday, for which the day of the so-called Schuman Declaration, that is, the speech of French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 9, 1950, was chosen. This speech is considered to be the starting point for the unification of European countries into a supranational community that eventually became the European Union.
