The United Nations (UN) has strongly condemned the Russian strikes on civilian targets in Kharkiv on May 25, which resulted in casualties and dozens of civilian injuries.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Denise Brown.

The statement, released by the UN press service, calls on Russia to stop striking civilian infrastructure, which is actually a war crime.

“I am stunned and shocked by the terrible news that came from Kharkiv... In broad daylight, as people - despite the horrors they endure every day in this city - were trying to get on with their day, their lives were destroyed by yet another attack by the Russian armed forces,” Brown said.

The UN representative noted that the strike took place in a crowded shopping center, which “resulted in dozens of civilian casualties and extensive damage to civilian objects.”

“This is absolutely unacceptable. These attacks by the Russian Armed Forces on civilians and civilian infrastructure must stop. Deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure is strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law,” emphasized the Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine.

She added that civilians must be protected.
