On Wednesday, NORAD intercepted two Russian Tu-95s and two Chinese H-6 bombers flying together near Alaska.

This is said to be the first time that Russia and China have intercepted each other, and the first time that Chinese bombers have flown into the Alaskan air defense identification zone. Russian aircraft enter the zone on a regular basis.

The bombers did not enter the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.

The interception was carried out by American F-16s and F-35s, as well as Canadian CF-18s.
