The United States will participate in the "coalition of fighters"

At the Group of Seven summits in Japan, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed Washington's participation in an allied initiative to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighters, including the F-16.

This was reported by a senior White House official on condition of anonymity, according to CNN.

According to the CNN source, the training of Ukrainian pilots is likely to take place only in Europe, but American personnel will participate in it together with European allies and partners.

"As the training takes place over the next few months, our coalition of nations participating in this effort will decide when to actually provide the aircraft, how many we will provide, and who will provide them," the US official added.

He emphasized that as of now, "the United States and our allies and partners are focused on providing Ukraine with the vast majority of the systems, weapons, and training needed to conduct offensive operations this spring and summer".

"Discussions about improving Ukraine's air force reflect our long-term commitment to Ukraine's self-defense," the CNN source said.
