"We stand with Ukraine against President Putin's war, which threatens the principles that underpin the rules-based international order - including that all nations should be able to determine their own path and have the right to sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity."

Blinken stressed that when nations stand together, they become stronger.

Hayashi, for his part, confirmed that Russia's aggression against Ukraine "undermines the foundations of the international order".

He noted that during the meeting in Washington, the parties took a common position that Russia resorts to "reckless nuclear rhetoric and attacks on civilian infrastructure". In addition, according to him, Washington and Tokyo agreed on the need to "continue to strongly support Ukraine".

At the same time, Hayashi stressed that Japan and the United States share a common concern over the strengthening of cooperation between China and Russia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed other issues, including the security situation in the Pacific region, support for democratic values and human rights, protection of the rule of law in the world, overcoming global challenges.
