There was a blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP

A complete blackout took place the night before Saturday, December 2, at the Zaporizhzhya NPP. For some time there was a threat to radiation safety, reports Energoatom.

It is noted that on the evening of December 1, there was a break in the 330 kV power transmission line of Zaporizhzhya TPP — Ferrosplavna, through which the station received power from the Ukrainian power system.

However, at 02:31, the last line of the Zaporizhzhya NPP — Dniprovska with a voltage of 750 kV was de-energized during the air alarm.

"Due to the complete blackout, the ZNPP switched to powering its own needs from diesel generators. All 20 diesel generators were turned on automatically, 8 of which were later left in operation," the report says.

Energoatom noted that the greatest security threat in this state exists at the fourth power unit, as the occupiers used it in violation of the terms of the license for the operation of nuclear reactor installations of the Ukrainian regulator and kept it in a hot state.
