Turkey calls for increased efforts to establish peace in Ukraine

Turkey fears that the Russian-Ukrainian war could spread to the region if multilateral efforts to establish a just and lasting peace are not strengthened.

The statement was made following a meeting of the National Security Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“There is a need to strengthen sincere multilateral efforts to establish a just and lasting peace before the war escalates further and spreads to the region,” the meeting said.

During the meeting, the Turkish Security Council discussed the war in Ukraine and Turkey's recent diplomatic efforts to end it.

They also discussed the process of normalizing relations with Syria, the fight against terrorism, the Cyprus issue and other issues.
