This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Turkish Center for Maritime and Global Strategies (TÜRK-DEGS).

"Turkey has leased the port of Homs for 99 years to create a military base," the TV channel reports.

It is also noted that due to this, Turkey will strengthen its position in the Eastern Mediterranean, control over Turkish territorial waters and ensure security for commercial vessels.

The TGRT Haber TV channel notes that the base is planned to deploy UAV units, including combat ones, and air defense systems.
