U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will announce new aid to Ukraine on Tuesday so that it will be able to continue transmitting electricity amid Russian attacks on the country's power system.

The announcement was made by a senior U.S. State Department official, Reuters reported.

Blinken arrived in Romania Monday night for a meeting with NATO allies and G7 foreign ministers.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told NATO diplomats visiting Kyiv on Monday that transformers were the most essential element of energy infrastructure for reconstruction.

The U.S. official, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity, said Washington is working with U.S. utilities and equipment suppliers as well as European countries to find equipment that can help rebuild high-voltage power transmission stations damaged by Russian missile strikes.
