Ukraine calls for pressure on the DPRK

May 28, 2024

Ukraine has appealed to the international community to increase pressure on North Korea after it attempted to launch a reconnaissance satellite.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Ukraine is deeply concerned about the DPRK's attempt to launch a reconnaissance satellite.

“We strongly condemn Pyongyang's repeated violations of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions,” the ministry said.

They added that such actions, including the provision of weapons to Russia for the war in Ukraine, significantly worsen the security situation in the region and the world.

“Ukraine calls for increased pressure from the international community on Pyongyang to comply with international law and ensure stability and security on the Korean Peninsula,” the Foreign Ministry said.

It seems to me that this is not the most urgent problem for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry at the moment. For example, Russia launches such satellites regularly. They pose a much greater threat than the North Korean satellite.
