Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker the involvement of American industrial business in the development of Ukraine's military industry.
The Minister announced this following a meeting with Pritzker, which was also attended by Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn.
"Creating a military industry that corresponds to the scale of the enemy's industrial capacity is a matter of national security for us. The Ministry of Defense is creating and launching the Defense Fund, which will become a direct partner for American companies in creating joint productions and products," Umerov said after the talks with Pritzker.
According to the defense minister, direct procurement with American companies is one of today's priorities.
"It is critically important for us to provide our soldiers with the necessary weapons, including ammunition," Umerov said.
Another priority of such cooperation is air defense.
"We are strengthening our capabilities," the minister commented.
"It is important for us to create opportunities for attracting American industrial business, in particular, we plan to create joint production of weapons and equipment. We are working on this," Umerov added.
