Ukraine to receive 500 thousand shells by the end of the year

May 28, 2024

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has said that Ukraine can expect to receive 500,000 artillery shells by the end of 2024 as part of the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase them from third countries.

She made the statement at an informal meeting of Ukraine's allies in Prague, a Yevropeiska Pravda correspondent reports.

Frederiksen emphasized that ammunition and air defense remain the most important priorities for Ukraine to defend itself, and they must be delivered as soon as possible.

“With the funds raised by the Czech initiative, we plan to send half a million artillery munitions to Ukraine by the end of this year,” she said.

The Danish Prime Minister expressed hope that these supplies “will have a real impact on the battlefield” in Ukraine and promised to continue supporting Kyiv “as long as necessary.”

Frederiksen also emphasized the need to support the production of weapons and ammunition in Ukraine. “The Ukrainian defense industry, I must say, is really impressive, and it makes sense to produce weapons where they are used,” she said.
