Ukraine to receive more than $12 bln in aid from Japan

Ukraine will receive aid from Japan for more than $12 billion, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said after a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on February 19, Korrespondent reports.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that Japan's position in support of Ukraine remains unwavering. During our meeting he said that Japan will assist Ukraine for 12.1 billion dollars, including the announced and realized volume", - he wrote, without specifying for what time will be allocated this money.

According to him, at the talks today discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation: liberalization of the visa regime, intensification of trade, and continuation of sanctions pressure on Russia.

"We agreed to open negotiations on updating the agreement on investment promotion and protection. Our goal is to give investors reliable legal protection and guarantees," Shmygal added.
