Ukrainian Armed Forces "covered" Storm Z detachment near Svatove

Near Svatove, fighters of the 1st Battalion of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces named after Ataman Ivan Sirko defeated an assault group of the Russian Storm Z unit that had been redeployed to Avdiivka. As a result, 16 Russians were killed and three more surrendered.

"On the night of June 1 to June 2, a Russian assault unit consisting of three platoons of 22 soldiers each attacked the positions of the 1st Battalion of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade. Ordinary soldiers of the detachment were recruited from among prisoners convicted of serious crimes in the structure of the Russian Ministry of Defense," the statement said.

It is noted that, unlike Wagner, all the soldiers were well armed and trained, each platoon had several night vision devices and thermal imagers, 2 PKM machine guns, an SGD rifle, two RPG-7 grenade launchers, and one quadcopter.

"The soldiers of the 1st Battalion of the 92nd Brigade repelled the attack, and then the soldiers of Bravo Company of the 1st Battalion of the International Legion of Defense of Ukraine conducted a sweep. As a result of the coordinated actions of our troops, 16 Russians were killed, including the platoon commander, 3 surrendered, and the rest managed to return. There were no losses on our side. The battle in defense and a quick counterattack are an example of competent tactical actions," the statement said.
