The U.S. Department of Defense is closely monitoring the joint military activities of Russia and China and is ready to act accordingly.
This was stated by Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder during a press briefing, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"I think no one will be surprised that China and Russia continue to look for ways to (military - ed.) cooperate. We will continue to monitor this situation and act appropriately," the Pentagon spokesman said.
He was responding to a question about the joint maneuvers of Russian and Chinese warships near the Aleutian Islands, which belong to the United States.
The general noted that the Russian and Chinese ships were operating in international waters, which is legitimate. However, according to him, the U.S. NORAD and NORTHCOM commands were monitoring their presence.
