Xi Jinping arrives in Kazakhstan for the SCO summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived at a visit to Kazakhstan. He will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states, where he will meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Xi Jinping took off this morning on a special plane from Beijing to attend the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana.

In addition, the Chinese president will pay visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan at the invitation of the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.

Xi Jinping is accompanied by Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Chief of Staff of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and other officials.

This is the second foreign visit of the Chinese leader this year. In May, Xi Jinping went on a European tour, visiting France, Serbia, and Hungary.
