Valery Zaluzhny resigned because the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed a partial overload to become more technologically advanced and faster.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with FOX News.

The head of state noted that a reboot in the management of the top command of the Armed Forces was very necessary, but at the same time, "we are not talking about rebooting the direction of action”.

According to him, the need to change the command was due to the fact that "some things have not changed for some time".

"We need to be faster. And to do this, we need to get rid of the bureaucracy we have. Otherwise, we have no chance. We need to be smart, including technologically, and of course fast. Time is money. And in our case, time is human lives," the president said.

In addition, Zelensky denied that he had dismissed Zaluzhny because of political competition.

"This is his (Zaluzhny's - ed.) choice. He defended our country. And for this I awarded him this title (the Hero of Ukraine star - ed.). I am very grateful to him," the head of state added.

As a reminder, on February 8, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The President appointed Oleksandr Syrsky as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
