Zelensky talked about agreements with Spain to strengthen air defense

May 28, 2024

Ukraine has agreed with Spain to help strengthen its air defense, but its details are not disclosed until all supplies are approved.

This was announced at a press conference in Lisbon on May 28 by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of state spoke about the need to adopt bilateral security agreements that provide for long-term commitments of states to supply military assistance and stressed that air defense is now a priority.

“Among these (security - Ed.) agreements is an agreement with countries that have air defense systems,” Zelenskyy explained.

“As for Spain, for example, I would draw attention to this, we did have relevant agreements, and there will be additional air defense for specific systems and specifically missiles. I just don't want to talk about some of the details right now until these systems arrive,” he added.

Ukraine's need for air defense capabilities has become acute amid intensified Russian air attacks on Ukrainian energy and civilian infrastructure.
