Zelenskyy appoints ex-Ukroboronprom head as ambassador to Azerbaijan

Feb 22, 2024

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed former Ukroboronprom CEO Yuriy Husyev as Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan.

This is stated in Zelenskyy's decree.

By another decree, Zelensky dismissed Vladyslav Kanevsky from the post of ambassador to Azerbaijan.

Yuriy Husyev was fired as head of Ukroboronprom in the summer of 2023.

In August, an article by EuroPravda stated that Ukraine wanted to appoint Husiev as ambassador to the Czech Republic, but even before a written request for the post, Prague signaled its refusal to accept him as ambassador.

"But Bankova's desire to employ Huseyev at any cost was stronger, and according to recent rumors, he will go to Azerbaijan, which agrees to everything," the article said.
