The Russian Federation has launched two Iranian-made satellites into orbit using a Russian launch vehicle. This continues the trend of cooperation between the two countries in the space industry.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The Russian Soyuz 2.1b rocket launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur region on Tuesday morning, November 5, and launched 53 satellites into a 500-kilometer orbit. Iranian media reported that among them were Iranian-made Kousar and Hodhod satellites.
The Kousar satellite is a high-resolution satellite that takes images of the earth's surface for agricultural purposes, natural resource management and environmental protection. The Hodhod satellite is designed to create satellite communication networks, as well as for the so-called “Internet of Things”, which is used to provide communication with hard-to-reach areas.
Both satellites were built and designed by the private Iranian company Omid Faza.
“A Kremlin-linked military blogger hailed the Kousar and Hodhod launches as the latest example of 'growing bilateral cooperation' between Russia and Iran in the space sector,” the ISW report said.
