Chinese and Brazilian officials should visit Kyiv before offering peace initiatives to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press conference of the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
"Recently there have been proposals for peace from China and Brazil. For an honest peace effort, you need to talk to Kyiv. You need to go there and see the consequences of the aggression with your own eyes and with the eyes of those who were bombed," Borrell said.
He stressed that one must be very clear about the situation in Ukraine: there is an aggressor who violated the UN charter and invaded the territory of another country, and there is a victim of this aggression.
"We cannot accept an approach where the aggressor and the victim are treated equally. That's why we support Ukraine with tanks, air defense systems, and even fighter jets... We all want peace, but it has to be a just peace. Until then we will continue to support Ukraine in its defense," the official added.-
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, neither Chinese President Xi Jinping nor Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has visited Ukraine.
As a reminder, on February 24, China released a so-called "peace plan", in which Beijing indicated its vision of ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
It was also reported that Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva called for the creation of a G20 analogue for peace in Ukraine.
