The restrictive measures include a travel ban, asset freeze and a ban on the provision of financial resources. The sanctions continue to apply to more than 2,200 individuals and legal entities associated with Russia's unjustified aggression against Ukraine.

The EU Council has also revised the sanctions list, removing seven individuals, including five deceased persons.

Since the outbreak of war on 24 February 2022, the EU has significantly expanded sanctions against Russia in an effort to weaken its economy and limit its ability to wage war.

The European Council reaffirms its continued support for Ukraine and stands ready to continue efforts to strengthen sanctions and prevent their circumvention.
