On Tuesday, September 10, Russian troops began counterattacks in the Kursk region. However, their scale and potential prospects are still unclear.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russia's first advances
The analysts emphasized that the situation in the region remains unstable, so it is too early to draw conclusions about Russia's new counterattacks.
At the same time, geolocation footage from September 11 still shows that Russians have regained positions east of Zhuravly (northeast of Koreneve). Additional footage from the 10th shows that units of the 51st Airborne Regiment advanced north and northeast of Snahost (south of Korenevo) in a company-sized mechanized offensive.
Russian military bloggers claimed that Russian troops launched a mechanized counterattack from the north near Korenevo and that they quickly advanced to Snagost. Several Russian sources claimed that Russian troops had completely captured Snahost, but ISW did not observe any visual evidence of these claims.
Russian sources also claimed that units from the 51st Airborne Regiment and 155th Marine Brigade had advanced into and captured Snahost: Chervonozhovtneve, Komarivka, Vyshnivka, Apanasivka, 10th of October, Obukhivka, Byakhovo, Vnesapne, and Hordiivka.
But ISW did not write whether there is confirmation or denial of this.
