Vienna will completely abandon Russian gas. This will happen in the next 2025.
RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the Telegram of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
It is reported that starting in 2025, the energy company Wien-Energie, which provides electricity to Vienna (the capital of Austria), will stop using Russian gas.
“Both for supplying industrial and commercial customers and for the operation of the city's utilities,” the Energy Ministry said.
Since Russia is an unreliable supplier, the Austrian capital will cover its gas needs from alternative sources, including the North Sea.
“This was made possible primarily thanks to Austrian Energy Minister Eleonora Hessler and her consistent steps towards independence from Russian energy carriers and the elimination of the terrorist country from the energy markets of her own country,” the statement said.-
The Ministry of Energy added that it is not only about Austrian energy independence. The decisions taken will also reduce Russia's oil and gas revenues, and thus the number of missiles used by the enemy to destroy Ukraine's energy sector.
