On Monday, 9 September, the European Union began negotiations on visa liberalisation with Armenia.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Armenian service of Radio Liberty.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reportedly met with European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas in Yerevan.
‘I am glad that there are noticeable changes in our relations. Negotiations on visa liberalisation are starting, and a decision has been made to support the Republic of Armenia with the European Peace Fund, which we greatly appreciate,’ Pashinyan said.
The meeting also decided to support Armenia with the European Peace Fund. The country is also currently actively discussing the possibility of joining the EU.
For his part, the Vice President of the European Commission noted that the EU is interested in developing relations with Armenia and promoting reforms in the country. Schinas also hopes for effective cooperation with the Armenian government on a dialogue on visa liberalisation.
