On Sunday, December 8, the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad finally fell in Syria. This is a positive and long-awaited event.
This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing her post on the social network X.
“The end of Assad's dictatorship is a positive and long-awaited event. It also shows the weakness of Assad's supporters, Russia and Iran. Our priority is to ensure security in the region. I will work with all constructive partners, in Syria and in the region,” she wrote.
In a comment to her post, Kaya Kallas added that she is in close contact with the ministers of the region. She also noted that the process of reconstruction in Syria will be long and complex, so all parties should be ready to engage constructively.
