The White House under President Joe Biden has developed the latest strategy to support Ukraine. It includes an “avalanche” of military aid and large-scale new sanctions against Russia.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Guardian.
According to the publication, on Thursday, Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak. Their meeting lasted more than an hour. As a result of the meeting, Biden's senior adviser promised that by mid-January 2025, the United States would provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of additional artillery shells, thousands of missiles, and hundreds of armored vehicles.
In addition, the United States promises to support Ukraine in its human resources issue by offering to train new soldiers at facilities outside of Ukrainian territory.
This is happening in parallel with the almost finalized agreement on the allocation of $20 billion in loans to be repaid from frozen Russian assets.
The Guardian adds that the US is linking this to a series of new sanctions that will be introduced in the coming weeks to make it harder for Russia to continue its military actions and to strengthen Ukraine's position at the negotiating table, which could lay the groundwork for a future settlement.
