Armenia may take a course to join the EU if it sees real chances of doing so, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

Pashinyan recalled his earlier statement that Armenia is ‘ready to be closer to the EU as much as the EU considers possible’ and added that since then, Armenia's agenda has been to officially set a course for EU membership.
The Prime Minister's direct speech: ‘But here we need to understand that this is not a unilateral or even bilateral action. We need to be very careful in formulating the problems so as not to create new disappointments for the people on the way to solving these problems. We also need to physically imagine Armenia's membership in the EU.’
Pashinyan is convinced that Armenia's continued democratic course will bring it closer to the EU and other Western partners, but that relations with its neighbours in the region are equally important for the country.
‘Our future relations with the EU should be transparent. The intentions of our partners in the EU should be transparent, and so on. In principle, I cannot rule out that if we see a more or less realistic opportunity to become a full member of the European Union, including keeping under control possible threats that may arise on this path, we will not miss this moment,’ Pashinyan said.
