As noted in the summary, the Wagner PMC forces have deployed large numbers of convict-recruits. These have probably experien; the level of losses among them likely reaches 50%.

According to British intelligence estimates, the forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense and private military contractors (PMCs) have lost from 175 to 200 thousand people since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, among whom from 40 to 60 thousand were killed.

Russia's casualty rate has increased significantly since September 2022, when "partial mobilization" was introduced.

"By modern standards, these figures represent a high ratio of personnel killed compared to those wounded. This is almost certainly due to extremely rudimentary medical provision across much of the force," the British Defense Ministry noted.

Artillery was almost certainly the cause of most Russian casualties, the report said.

According to NATO intelligence, the Russian army loses 2,000 men for every 90 meters of advance on the front.
