On Wednesday, Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev announced the preparation of a new military aid package for Ukraine, which is resisting full-scale Russian aggression.
This is reported by the BGNES.
As the head of the Bulgarian Defense Ministry announced, the new military assistance package for Ukraine will meet the needs of Kyiv and the capabilities of Sofia in accordance with the decision of the parliament last year.
"The volume of assistance will be the same as last time. We take out from the warehouses what is in good condition, has a longer life, but, say, 30-40 years or more, and there is always a question about the cost, what exactly we mean, and how this cost is calculated," Tagarev explained.
He also disagreed with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, who called it a mistake for Bulgaria to join the EU initiative to provide Ukraine with a million artillery shells.
"We are talking about investments, European investments, in expanding capacities and modernizing our defense industry before we lose the opportunity because Commissioner Thierry Breton first came to Bulgaria, but then he went to other countries and we said we did not need it," the minister added.
