Democrats have no backup plan if Biden refuses to run for second term
The Democratic Party of the United States of America has not prepared a "plan B" in case incumbent President Joe Biden does not run in the upcoming presidential election.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to the publication, Biden intends to run for a second term, despite the fall in his own ratings.
At the same time, the president's supporters are confident that the party does not need a backup plan to defeat the likely Republican candidate Donald Trump, whom Biden beat in the 2020 election.
"There is no plan B. If he suddenly stopped running, everyone you know would run. The vice president (Kamala Harris - ed.) doesn't scare anyone," said one senior Democrat.
If Biden does drop out of the race during next year's Democratic primary, other candidates could run, depending on state filing requirements.
Such a scenario could lead to an intra-party war, journalists write.
