The European Union (EU) will provide Ukraine with 160 million euros ($178.74 million) to support Ukraine's energy security ahead of winter. Part of the amount will be provided from frozen Russian assets.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen during a press conference in Brussels.
According to the EC President, Ukraine has already received at least 2 billion euros ($2.23 billion) in support for energy security since the start of the full-scale invasion.
The additional $178.74 million announced today includes:
“The goal is to meet the immediate needs of the population while making Ukraine's energy system more resilient in the long term. In total, Ukraine needs 17 gigawatts of power for this winter,” she explained.
