It is noted that the resolution was approved by 508 votes. In it, MEPs condemned the escalation of Russia's malicious activities, interference, and hybrid operations on the eve of the presidential election and the constitutional referendum on European integration to be held in Moldova on October 20.

In particular, the European Parliament drew attention to the role of pro-Russian Moldovan oligarchs and the Russian TV channel RT.

In addition, they called on the EU and its member states to provide Moldova with all the assistance it needs to strengthen its institutional mechanisms and ability to respond to hybrid threats.

They also called for additional sanctions against political actors destabilizing the situation in Moldova.

“Against the backdrop of increasing Russian interference, the resolution calls on the EU Council to impose additional sanctions against those who undermine Moldova's sovereignty. MEPs also call on the countries and territories hosting wanted Moldovan fugitives, such as Ilan Shor and Vladimir Plahotniuc, to extradite them to Moldova for trial,” the resolution reads.
