Germany prepares emergency military aid to Ukraine - Reuters

Sep 19, 2024

Germany intends to approve military aid to Ukraine in the amount of about 400 million euros. The funds should be allocated immediately due to the deteriorating situation at the front.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.

“Given the steady deterioration of the military situation in Ukraine, there is a serious risk that Ukraine may fail in its defense campaign without a significant increase in material support,” the Ministry of Finance said in a letter.

The Finance Ministry, at the request of the Defense Ministry, is asking the budget committee of the lower house of parliament to approve the additional spending.

“The resulting unplanned need of around 397 million euros has only been specified in the last few weeks to the extent that it meets the constitutional and budgetary requirements for an unplanned need,” the letter says.

The Ministry of Finance said this condition must be met immediately so that the measures can be implemented in 2024 and have an impact during the remaining part of the year.

In 2024, the budget of German aid to Ukraine amounted to about 8 billion euros.
