Italy complained about the hybrid war of the Russian Federation

Feb 29, 2024

Russia is waging a hybrid war against Italy using disinformation, cyber-attacks, and illegal migration. This is stated in the Italian intelligence report, reports Ansa.

"Russia is the most active player in hybrid campaigns to the detriment of Italy and the entire West. Espionage, cyber-attacks, and the use of migration flows for destabilization are the arsenal used," the document says.

It is noted that in this way Russia is trying to influence the upcoming elections to the European Parliament, scheduled for June 6-9.

Italian intelligence added that Russian disinformation was last recorded regarding farmers' protests against the EU's agricultural policy.

We will remind you that the other day, the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Maloni distinguished herself once again with an apt definition. Maloney, a sincere ally of Ukraine, said that there is no need to impose capitulation on our country under the guise of peace. She called this approach hypocritical.

She said this at a press conference in Kyiv on February 24, commenting on the signing of an agreement on security cooperation with Ukraine. Maloney reminded that the security agreement with Ukraine defines the commitments that Italy made together with other members of the "Group of Seven" in July last year within the framework of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

"We continue to support Ukraine in what I have always considered, as you know, to be the just right of the people to defend themselves. This necessarily involves military support, because confusing the widely used word "peace" with "surrender" as they do, is a hypocritical approach that we will never share," the head of the Italian government emphasized.

She added that the agreement allows systematizing such aid to Ukraine; in addition, a comprehensive approach is needed that can help Ukraine "look to the future - in the industrial sector, in the energy sector, in the field of critical infrastructure", and also provides for humanitarian support.
