Kuleba on Liz Truss: the course towards Russia will continue

Sep 6, 2022

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that the appointment of Liz Truss to the post of British Prime Minister means the continuation of London's tough course towards Russia.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, Kuleba said this on Tuesday during a nationwide telethon.

"It means a continuation of Boris Johnson's policy, because Mrs. Truss, as Britain's foreign secretary, has been a staunch ally of Johnson, and in the Ukrainian issue she has taken the hardest pro-Ukrainian and pro-European position possible," he said.

"Therefore, her election means the continuation of a tough policy and the most comprehensive support of our state in opposing Russian aggression," the foreign minister added.

Kuleba confirmed that soon the new British Prime Minister will hold the first phone conversation with Vladimir Zelenski: "The call will take place, there is an agreement. And I have no doubt that (Liz Truss's) visit to Kyiv will also take place".
