Lithuania proposes to suspend the acceptance of applications for temporary residence permits from Belarusian citizens.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Delfi.
The initiators of these changes were the Deputy Speaker of the Seimas Paulius Saudargas, the Chairman of the National Security and Defense Committee Laurinas Kasciunas, and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Audronius Ažubalis.
It is proposed to suspend the acceptance of applications from Belarusian citizens for residence permits in Lithuania through an external service provider abroad. However, many exceptions are proposed.
"Let's support a democratic Belarus, let's give asylum to those who need it, let's strengthen the independence of this country as much as it depends on us, but let's not create Belarus in Lithuania with all the risks that come with it and the intelligence threats," Kasciunas said.
