Lithuania's Ignitis Group has contributed EUR 4 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase equipment to create 120 MW of capacity to restore the country's energy infrastructure.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the company's press service.
The new facilities will provide electricity to about 420,000 households, which is especially important in the face of the upcoming cold weather and ongoing attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities.
Darius Maikštanas, CEO of Ignitis Group, emphasized that the assistance will help restore key functions of Ukraine's energy system, ensuring the important vital needs of citizens.
The Energy Support Fund for Ukraine was established to provide financial assistance in restoring the country's critical energy infrastructure. It is managed by the Energy Community Secretariat in cooperation with the European Commission, other governments and international organizations. The allocation of funds from Ignitis Group was officially approved on October 8 after signing an agreement with the Secretariat.
Due to the ongoing hostilities, details about the facilities and regions that will receive assistance are not disclosed.
Since the beginning of the war, Ignitis Group has been actively supporting Ukraine. In particular, several batches of transformers, generators and other equipment have been transferred to restore the power grid.
