North Korea started sewing winter uniforms for the Russian military

Nov 8, 2022

A number of factories in North Korea are already involved in sewing winter uniforms for the Russian military, materials for this are provided by Russia.

This is reported by Radio Free Asia, citing information from its sources in North Korea.

According to this information, at least three factories in Pyongyang and an unspecified number in other locations have begun sewing uniforms for the Russian military. The clothes, underwear, and shoes are the actual uniforms, and raw materials are supplied by Russia. They are then to be shipped by rail to Russia across the narrow isthmus connecting the countries, a route that was "unfrozen" in early November after an eight-month pause due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A factory in Moranbong, Pyongyang, has allegedly been sewing molds in for nearly a month, in large quantities.

The plausibility of this information may be evidenced by a statement by the Russian embassy in North Korea a few weeks ago that Russia is "interested in buying clothes and shoes" from North Korea.

UN Resolution 2375 of September 2017 bans North Korea from any export of textile products.
