NATO should take ‘decisive coordinated’ measures in response to incidents in which Russian missiles or drones fired at Ukraine intrude into the alliance's airspace.
This was stated by Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tilvar, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Reuters.
‘The B9 states are deeply concerned about the repeated intrusions of Russian drones and missiles into NATO airspace in Poland, Romania, Latvia, as well as the escalation of tensions along NATO's eastern flank,’ Tilvar told reporters.
The defence ministers of NATO's eastern flank, the Bucharest Nine (B9), met in Bucharest on 18 September.
‘That is why decisive, coordinated action at the Allied level is needed, as well as the speedy implementation of the rotational air defence model and integrated missile defence,’ he said.
Poland's Deputy Defence Minister Pawel Zalewski said that at a meeting of NATO defence ministers in October, it will be necessary to consider the destruction of drones that have invaded allied airspace.
‘We have confirmed the hybrid attacks on the allies, as well as the participation of Belarus in Russia's actions,’ Zalewski added.-
