Russia fired up to 40 missiles and 35 drones at Ukraine in the night

Russian forces fired up to 40 cruise missiles and about 35 drones at Ukraine on the night of May 29. Meanwhile, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 37 missiles, 29 strike drones, and one reconnaissance drone.

This is reported with reference to the Telegram channel of the AFU Commander in Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny.

"This night the Russian occupiers attacked military facilities and critical infrastructure in Ukraine with cruise missiles and strike drones," Zaluzhny wrote.

According to him, the occupiers fired up to 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles from nine Tu-95ms strategic aviation aircraft from the Caspian Sea area.

"From the northern and southern directions, the enemy attacked with Iranian Shahed-136/131 UAVs. In total there were about 35 strike drones," Zaluzhny said.

He noted that the anti-aircraft defense worked in the areas of responsibility of all Air Force air commands: "Center", "East", "South" and "West".

"The forces and means of the air commands in cooperation with the air defense of other components of Ukraine's defense forces destroyed 67 air targets", the Commander in Chief informed.

Overall, according to him, Ukrainian air defense destroyed this night:

  • 37 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
  • 29 attack UAVs Shahed-136/131;
  • 1 reconnaissance UAV of operational-tactical level.

Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Lviv, and other regions were under attack. In several areas, residential houses and infrastructure were damaged. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries are recorded.
