Some of Ukraine's allies are discussing the possibility of ending the war with Russia through negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv in 2025. However, the decision to negotiate should be made only by Ukrainian officials.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Bloomberg.
According to the publication's sources, some of Ukraine's partners are discussing how the war could end. And this is causing some Western capitals to fear that Ukrainian soldiers will be forced to cease fire prematurely.
Bloomberg's interlocutors clarify that officials in Western countries, as part of the 2025 strategy, have begun to more seriously consider ending the war between Ukraine and Russia through negotiations.
But at the same time, Western officials have made it clear that the decision to negotiate will be made by Kyiv and that there is no pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in this regard.
Such discussions, according to the newspaper, were prompted by the fact that “there are no signs of a breakthrough” on the battlefield and the war is approaching another winter. Therefore, some officials began to explore the possibility of “breaking the deadlock”.
But journalists point out that ceasefire negotiations must address a key problem: how to make Ukraine invulnerable to a possible new Russian attack without drawing Western countries into the conflict.
