Sunak: British Challenger 2 tanks will be in Ukraine in March

Feb 8, 2023

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has hinted that British Challenger 2 tanks will arrive in Ukraine in March 2023 and also announced the expansion of the training program for the Ukrainian military.

According to European Pravda, he said this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after meeting with Ukrainian tank crews who are now mastering these vehicles.

"The Ukrainian crews who arrived for the exercise last week will use Challenger 2 tanks to defend Ukraine's sovereign territory as early as next month. And we agreed today to expand the training program that 10,000 Ukrainian military personnel have already gone through to include marines and fighter pilots," Rishi Sunak said.

He added that Britain is working to ensure that needed Western weapons end up in Ukraine in the coming weeks, not months or years.

"We need to arm Ukraine in the short term, and also reinforce it for the long term. Ukraine must not be allowed to be a vulnerable target for new aggression again," Rishi Sunak stressed.
