The Russian Federation may attack Sweden. This may happen because of Russia's desire to gain control of the Baltic Sea.
According to RBC-Ukraine, this was stated by Swedish Defense Minister Pal Johnson in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
He noted that Russia has transferred part of its landing forces from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. However, the Russian fleet in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad remained virtually untouched.
“Russia is a threat to Sweden, as well as to the rest of NATO. We cannot rule out a Russian attack on our country,” Jonson said.
In his opinion, the goal of the Kremlin's aggression may be to gain control of the Baltic Sea.
“After the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the military and commercial importance of the Baltic Sea for the Kremlin has increased even more. Therefore, we must take Russia's aggressive intentions into account in our military plans,” he said.-
At the same time, Jonson noted that Sweden is implementing an ambitious program to expand its navy.
“The Swedish Navy has traditionally been concentrated in the Baltic Sea. Our submarines know the seabed very well. We also have a large fleet of ships and excellent amphibious forces. However, due to the current situation, we are implementing an ambitious navy expansion program,” he said.-
