The Dutch government has requested the purchase of 246 missiles and related equipment. The total estimated cost of the program is $691 million.

“The proposed sale will advance U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the statement said.

The sale will enhance the Netherlands' ability to meet current and future threats and improve interoperability with the United States and other NATO members, the agency added.
