The day before, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said that Berlin wants to transfer the first air defense system IRIS-T to Ukraine "in the next few days."

She added that deliveries of the next three systems are planned for next year.

The IRIS-T SLM ground-based air defense system is primarily designed to protect civilians by repelling air attacks by the Russian army. It is considered one of the most advanced air defense systems that the Bundeswehr does not even have.
