US to announce $300 million aid package for Ukraine on Wednesday

The United States will provide an additional $300 million in new military aid to Ukraine on Wednesday in a package that is expected to include ammunition for the Patriot missile defense system.

Sources told Voice of America on Tuesday.

Allegedly, the military aid package, in addition to missiles for the Patriot missile defense system, will include missiles for the HIMARS highly mobile artillery missile system, tank ammunition, and anti-tank weapons.

Among the specific types of ammunition that may be in the US aid package are Zuni unguided air-to-air missiles, and AIM-7 air-to-air missiles with radar guidance. The Voice of America also mentions Avenger air defense systems and Stinger man-portable air defense systems.

This will be the 39th US aid package authorized by President Joe Biden's decree to reduce military equipment stocks from the Department of Defense since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
