Italian Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, who was instructed by Pope Francis to carry out a peace mission to try to help end the war, will visit Kyiv on June 5-6.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a statement by the Vatican.
According to the publication, the Archbishop of Bologna and President of the Italian Bishops' Conference will visit Kyiv as Francis' envoy.
The Vatican said that the main purpose of this visit is to listen carefully to the Ukrainian authorities about possible ways to achieve a just peace and to support gestures of humanity that will help ease tensions.
