Just last week, after the massive shelling of Ukrainian cities on October 10, several Western officials said they would help Ukrainians defend their skies in the near future. Which ones, the RBC edition told in detail.

In particular, one of the largest strategic partners of Ukraine - the United States - can provide advanced air defense systems. This was stated by US President Joe Biden during a conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

NASAMS complexes

Therefore, the first on our list are the advanced NASAMS air defense systems that Joe Biden promised Ukraine. These words were also confirmed by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, who said that the United States would do it as soon as possible.

First, two batteries of the complex will be delivered to Ukraine, each of which will have about eight units with a command post and a radar to track enemy missiles.

AMRAAM missiles

The United Kingdom also helps Ukraine a lot in defense, which after Ramstein-6 promised to give us AMRAAM missiles that can be used for NASAMS. However, it can also be used by fighter aircraft.

AMRAAM is a missile that can be operated in all weather conditions. This type is effective against cruise missiles, kamikaze drones and other aerial targets.

IRIS-T system

Earlier, Germany was thinking for a long time whether to provide weapons to Ukraine, but now the first IRIS-T air defense system has already begun to defend our skies. In the near future, three more such systems will arrive to reinforce it.

In fact, IRIS-T is the most modern air defense system, as it was completed only in 2014. And it is in Ukraine that it will start its work for the first time.
